New Coached Announced
Date of Event : Thu May 3, 2018 12:55PM

St Bernard’s OCCC is delighted to announce that Nigel Freebairn will coach the club, beginning 2018/19 season.

Nigel brings a wealth of experience to St Bernard’s OCCC having had an extensive playing and coaching career previously.

As a player, Nigel played in the South Australia for Kybybolite where he was twice selected to represent South Australia Country in junior development squads. He later moved to Victoria to play for Druids CC and Keilor CC in the VTCA. During this time he played 150 games taking 350 wickets and was a member of 2 First XI Premierships.

A policeman by trade, Nigel was selected to represent the police force at 2 Police World Cups in Perth and Worcestershire (Eng). He also was player/coach for the Victoria Police CC where they were champions in the Australia/New Zealand cricket championship.

As a coach, Nigel spent 3 years at Keilor Cricket Club, guiding the club to a First XI Premiership which took them from the North/West Division to Senior Division. In more recent times he has coached the St Bernard’s under 14 and 16 teams at junior level.

On behalf of the committee I would like to welcome Nigel, his wife Caroline and children Zac, Will and Alex to the senior arm of the club. We are looking forward to learning from Nigel and as a club improving on a solid 2017/18 season.

Kind Regards,

Brendan Davey

President

St Bernard’s OCCC
